Youth Enrichment Program Coordinator
“Making Veteran Priority” Program through the Tennessee Community Assistance Corporation (TCAC) AmeriCorps Program
The mission of the BOOST Programs is to combat educational injustice by providing engaging, scholastic programming for the students of Jefferson County in order to increase academic performance, enhance character development, and promote college access. The BOOST Programs run in collaboration between the Bonner Center for Service Learning and Civic Engagement at Carson-Newman College and the Jefferson City Housing Authority (JCHA). Recent development and growth of the programs have allowed for further expansion and a need for more staff.
Job Functions:
- Full-time position (1,700 hours)
- Coordinate and oversee all aspects of the BOOST academic enrichment program
o Program design, development, and expansion
o Tutor recruitment and training
o Community Partner relationships
o Academic enrichment curriculum
- Mentor student leaders
Qualifications:
- College degree preferred, or in the process of completing
- Age 17+ to apply
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Pass a NCIC background check and sex offender check
- Strong communication, organizational, and planning skills
- Willingness to work sometimes long and/or odd hours
- Work closely and professionally with students, staff, faculty, college administrators, and community partners
- Be open-minded and flexible
- Compassion towards marginalized populations and Appalachian communities
- Commitment to excellence and self-improvement
- Ability to work in a fast paced and challenging academic environment
- Must be available during most hours of the program: 1-5pm Monday-Friday
