SIFE USA Program Manager opening


SIFE USA currently has a Program Manager position available.  This position will be responsible for day-to-day program implementation of the SIFE USA Program in a US territory and requires extensive travel.

  • Manage, evaluate, and foster the progress of active SIFE teams on 80-130 campuses and participate in face-to-face, on-campus training programs, along with other communications and initiatives as needed, to help SIFE teams and faculty to continuously improve the quality of their program.
  • Increase the number of active SIFE students within the assigned geographic region.
  • Interface with university deans, administrators, and other leaders as needed to support local SIFE teams.
  • Prepare periodic status reports of campus visits and key statistical data.
  • Manage SIFE team competitions as assigned.
  • Identify prospective college and university participants and implement a recruitment strategy to gain support for starting a SIFE team from the administrators, faculty and students at these institutions.
  • Manage territory travel budget.
  • Prepares annual report summary on territory activities.
  • Position is a full-time traveling role.

Key Characteristics and Experience:

  • Passion for and understanding of SIFE; participated in some aspect of SIFE.
  • Results-driven individual able to give evidence of establishing goals, planning and follow-up skills, and achieving goals.
  • Willingness to work from the SIFE USA office in the SIFE World Headquarters located in Springfield, MO.

Job: VISTA leader position in Northwestern PA


The Children and Youth AmeriCorps*VISTA Project of Northwestern Pennsylvania is pleased to announce its search for an AmeriCorps*VISTA Leader. The Children and Youth project is a collaborative effort of Allegheny College, Edinboro University, Gannon University, and Mercyhurst College, spanning both Crawford and Erie Counties, which are located in “the chimney” of Pennsylvania. The mission of the project is to reduce poverty for under-served children and youth by mobilizing college students as volunteers in partnering community organizations.

The VISTA Leader will be headquartered at the Nonprofit Partnership in Erie, PA, and will be responsible for supporting approximately 15 VISTA members serving at local non-profit organizations and school districts. The VISTA Leader will support professional development of the VISTA members, and help to guide them in generating resources for their programs. In addition, the VISTA Leader will help to strengthen and shape the project’s Advisory Boards, and will help to design outcomes to measure the project’s impact and effectiveness in reducing poverty for children and youth in Northwestern Pennsylvania.

Summer Camp Counselor Positions with Sierra Club

It is time again to recruit some kid-loving nature nerds!  

Nature Camp is sponsored this year by the Sierra Club!

We are taking applications for counselors for this summer.

  • The 1st week is June 6-10. The 2nd is June 13-17. 
  • A few meetings for training will be scheduled. Also the Saturday before, during and after camp are mandatory for preparation.
  • Must be outgoing, able and love to explore nature with children. This involves getting dirty, sweaty, bug bites, holding critters and a whole lot more!
  • Counselors’ hours are from 8am-1ish. On Friday we have a family picnic so our day could be until 4 pm.
  • We have Sr. and Jr. counselor paid positions available. Education and experience would be helpful.
  • Floaters are also needed. This is volunteer based. Great for past campers or nature nerd teens that need something to do.  
  • There will be 4 teams, each with 10 campers. A Sr and Jr counselor will be leading a team. Guiding them on hikes, canoeing, tree climbing, building a fort (secrete hideout), attending the educational programs provided and modeling, safety, good sportsmanship and of course respect for our earth!

Life Impacting Paid Summer Job with Kids!!!!


Camp War Eagle will be on campus at Oklahoma State University January 12-13.  Camp War Eagle is a Christian Sports and Adventure Camp for Underserved and at Risk kids ages 7-17 in NW Arkansas (about 3.5 hours from Stillwater). 

We are looking for college students that Love God first and foremost, Love Kids, Love the outdoors, and Love making a difference in the lives of others!!!  (Note: Really need male counselors.)

Most of our kids come from pretty hard homes and really need a positive role model in their lives and that role model could be you.  About 80% of our 4000 kids get a $2000 experience at no cost.  Pretty amazing!!!

Open Houses in Stillwater This Week


The LIFE Adult Day Center is having Open House all week, 1:00 – 3:00. They are located at 411 E. Mathews (inside First Christian Church).

Also, Oxford House is having an Open House on Saturday, 9-25 at 3:00 at the women’s house at 4502 N. Davis Court

Celebration Stillwater is going on this week with mini camps Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday and the ‘Main Event’ on Saturday, 9-25, noon-6:00 at Coach Park.  If you are interested in helping contact Terry at Fenton’s.  They might still need some help.  Or, just come out and join in on the festivities.  Check out their web site at http://www.celebrationstillwater.org.

 Michigan Community Service Commission Filling Five AmeriCorps*VISTA Positions

The Michigan Community Service Commission (MCSC), one of the nation’s leading commissions on service and volunteerism, is seeking five energetic, organized, and committed individuals to serve as the AmeriCorps*VISTAs. Positions are available for the following initiatives: Volunteer Michigan, Cross-Stream, Inclusion, Learn and Serve, and Mentor Michigan. The deadline to apply for these positions is Friday, August 27, 2010.  

AmeriCorps*VISTA is a national service program where members commit to serve full-time for a year at a nonprofit organization or local government agency; working to right illiteracy, fight poverty with passion, improve health services, create businesses, strengthen community groups, and much more.
