2012 Institute on Philanthropy and Voluntary Service


Sponsored by the Fund for American Studies with courses accredited by Georgetown University, the 2012 Institute on Philanthropy and Voluntary Service is a summer academic internship program held in Washington, D.C. for undergraduate students interested in volunteerism and careers in the nonprofit sector.

The Institute combines substantive professional experience for 30 hours a week (for 8 weeks) with a challenging academic experience at Georgetown University.

The internship will last from June 10 to August 24th, 2012. Applications will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis until March 7th, 2012. Apply early! If you apply before December 2nd, 2011, you’ll receive a 5% discount!

Paid Internship Opportunity!


The Wediko Summer Program is in the process of recruiting and hiring graduate and undergraduate students for their paid summer internship.

At Wediko Children’s Services, they are already recruiting students from diverse backgrounds and fields to be a part of a paid internship opportunity for Summer 2011. The Wediko Summer Program is a short term residential treatment program that serves approximately 150 children with emotional and behavioral difficulties. Each year, they hire a group of dedicated, ambitious, and talented individuals to make the program meaningful and successful for each child.

They offer a unique opportunity for students in a variety of majors to teach art, athletics, theatre, mountain biking, fishing, and other water based activities. There is also an opportunity for students who are interested in teaching in the classroom and direct care positions.

Volunteer Internships with Living History


Living History is the brainchild of Jo Heiliger, and she needs volunteer interns! Here are the descriptions of the positions:

(most of these positions are able to occupy multiple interns each) 

Game Development ( October 1 – Nov. 16) Stillwater, est. 24 hours
Analyze Curriculum plans (October – November 30) est. 24 hours
Assist in Living History Performance Development with students in classroom (Morrison Public School Library, Nov. 16, 2011 – Dec. 2, 2011  (5 sessions/3 hours each, 15 hours) in Morrison, some transportation arranged and potential reimbursement for mileage
Estimated 24 hours for the following:
Web Site Development, Stillwater (October – January)
Grant Development, Stillwater (October – December)
Revise Funding Organizations by-laws and other related activities in board development (October – December)
Some aspects of these might carry over into 2012
This will be done under the direction of Jo Heiliger, Community Partnership Development Fund, Director
&
Jim Dailey, Coordinator of “Discover Hidden Treasure”, Retired Pawnee Middle School language arts and social studies teacher and Living History Performer
